On Friday June 14th, Holt Construction received the 2019 CMAA Project of the Year Award for our contribution to the United Polaris Lounge located in Terminal C of Newark Liberty International Airport.
The Construction Management Association of America is an industry association dedicated to the practice of professional construction management. CMAA represents more than 16,000 members including federal/state/local government and private sector owners, construction consultants, technology suppliers, academia, and legal organizations all with a common goal: to improve our nation’s infrastructure.
Building on the airline’s concept to be uniquely United while embracing the energy of the Newark/New York metropolitan area and the exciting destinations served from it, this United Polaris lounge exhibits distinct local flair throughout. When visitors first enter, they are greeted with a vibrant lighting fixture created by Brooklyn-based art and design laboratory Richard Clarkson Studio, which is meant to mimic the constellations of the 12 zodiac signs.
A private dining area with table service for up to 48 guests features a menu that blends global trends with familiar comfort foods, which was expertly developed by New York Chef John Glowacki. Additionally, the space includes 10 private daybeds outfitted with Saks Fifth Avenue bedding and 10 luxurious shower suites, featuring rainfall showers and Soho House & Co’s Cowshed Spa products.
Alexandria Perotti, Director of Operations (then Project Executive), through a truly collaborative experience completed this unique project with the help of the Holt Project Team, the dedicated teams of subcontractors, The Architect; Solomon Cordwell Buenz and United Airlines.
