I have been in the construction industry for over fifteen years. I started out on the project owner’s side, managing the coordination of office renovations and facilities maintenance, to constructing in some of the most dense and active airports in the United States.
In that time, I have seen how Holt Construction’s safety culture has grown. The importance of safety is realized from the top of our organization down. I feel that Holt really cares about its workers and wants to ensure we all get home, safe and healthy.
One topic that is important to me is struck by. For us working in the aviation market, being out on an active tarmac during construction adds additional risk for workers. Our daily toolbox talks always warns our teams of the dangers of struck by and the use of high visibility vests, vehicle lighting and work area protection as we work in areas with both vehicular and airplane traffic. Because of these safety measures and the safety culture Holt promotes, our workers go home safe, without incident, and celebrates those values when the project is completed.
