Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall
Hospital recently unveiled a new
comprehensive chronic care center
for its Hudson Valley patients.
Rehabilitation at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall is a state-of-the-art treatment center that consists of Physical Therapy, Cardiac and Pulmonary Therapy and Occupational Therapy units. Partnered with Montefiore’s Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in White Plains, NY, the new center begins to shift the campus away from being an acute-care provider and towards being an outpatient center focused on managing the community’s chronic disease needs.
Holt Construction Corp. commenced the full demolition on the selected space, which previously housed an active kitchen and cafeteria area. In combined efforts to mitigate any safety and disruptive concerns, Holt coordinated weekly meetings with the hospital and design team in order to discuss and plan for any shut downs, deliveries, and other construction activities that may have impacted ongoing patient care.
Included in the scope of work was concrete saw cutting of the floor in order to allow for the underslab plumbing, in addition to demolishing the original structure down to the walls; to begin the build-out for the newly proposed space. A hydraulic wall cutting machine (which is able to cut through existing concrete and masonry walls) was utilized to cut through the walls of two adjoining spaces in order to combine them to create a larger, more efficient space.
