Atlantic Health System Morristown Medical Center AHU and LED Lighting

Holt Construction was engaged by Atlantic Health System (“AHS”) to provide pre-construction services and to serve as Construction Manager and General Contractor for the refurbishment and replacement of nine air handling units (AHU) as part of the Public Service Electric & Gas (PSE&G) Hospital Energy Efficiency Program.

Seven critical AHU’s, each approximately 40 years old, were replaced with four new units while two existing non-critical units have been refurbished. The new units are housed on a roof directly outside of the current equipment location and were connected through a complex phasing and demolition plan. The medical center also gained needed storage area in the space once occupied by the AHU’s.

The project also included 96 steam trap replacements and upgrades or replacements of over 17,000 existing lights and fixtures in the medical center to LED lighting. This included both exterior and interior spaces and was accomplished over a 12 month period. The medical center anticipates a significant reduction in energy usage and a reduction to its carbon footprint.
