Continental/United Airlines Cleanslate I, II & III Jet Bridge & Fuel Relocation

Holt Construction was hired by Continental Airline to assist in the relocation of passenger boarding gates so that Terminal C would handle the larger fleet of aircraft.

Cleanslate 1 & 2 $7.5M

The work comprised of the dismantling of existing jetway bridges and associated equipment, installation of new and longer jetway bridges with new concrete foundations, aircraft air conditioning and power units, and the relocation of the underground jet fuel lines and connection points to locations that were appropriate for the larger aircraft. Existing runway and taxiway paving was demolished and then reinstalled to allow for the new installations. All of this work was done during normal daily flight schedules with a maximum of three adjacent gates being taken out of commission at any one time so that there was no interruption of passenger service. Coordination between Holt’s Team and Continental Personnel was critical to the completion of the project which had a drop-dead date for completion.

Cleanslate 3 $6M

Terminal expansion, fueling, and gate alterations project that facilitates multiple-bridge-boarding of wide body aircraft for United Airlines. Work consists of the ground-up construction of a terminal extension building in concourse C3 and the reconfiguration of fueling systems at multiple gates in C3. The terminal extension is a structural steel framed building clad in metal panels built upon both an existing foundation and new foundations. Ground improvement in the form of rigid inclusions (controlled modulus columns) is required for the new foundations.

Fueling work consists of new lateral fuel lines, hydrant pits, valves, and cathodic protection to facilitate the fueling operations of larger wide body aircraft at various gates around C3, including the new terminal extension. Jet bridge work consists of the relocation and refurbishment of existing jet bridges.
