Functioning as the Construction Manager this vigorous Value Engineering exercise was managed and facilitated with MEP requirements that exceeded any retail project constructed at JFK to date.
This project consisted of common kitchen services with 5 unique stand alone eateries that utilized a Halton Ductless system that saved both time and construction costs which added value to the project. The electrical service required to feed the units consisted of 1,600 overall amps of various voltages with 6 transformers. Housing the electrical equipment required extensive planning as to minimize the impact on the overall space. The food trucks were constructed on the west coast and shipped to JFK as completed shells and had to be rigged via crane into the terminal as complete units.
All mechanical systems had to be installed in the trucks once onsite at JFK. This project was a major coordination effort from the onset and has created a one-of-a-kind passenger experience.
