Atlantic Health System required relocation of the Pediatrics unit and nonessential healthcare operations to be moved off campus to increase room for additional hospital beds. Pediatrics was relocated adjacent to the building which included construction on the first and third floor while the clinic area was completed on the second floor. State-of-the-art equipment and finishes were included in the build-out utilizing value engineering efforts to expedite the schedule and create less cost for the client. Efficient mechanical units were installed along with an upgraded electrical service. In addition to the relocation of the unit, Holt constructed 2 (two) x-ray rooms.
The cost savings created by Holt allowed Atlantic Health System to utilize the extra funds towards other vital upgrades and essential operations. While the project contained design challenges unforeseen to Holt or the client, the Pediatrics Unit was still completed within budget. As the site was an active building, mitigating safety to essential staff and visitors was priority and construction noise and pollution was kept to a minimum so not to disturb daily operations.
