Armory Elevator

Newburgh, NY

As general contractor, Holt Construction partnered with the client to complete the brand-new elevator within the historic armory building.

The scope of the work was to install a new elevator in an existing building which was built in 1931. The floors required relocation of MEP’s, cut existing slab to put in elevator pit, cut the first and second floors for shaft and installation of new walls for shaft. The surrounding areas included a live computer lab and library which were being utilized in the afternoons and weekends. Holt’s team worked between the morning and early afternoon hours to accommodate the client’s need and to mitigate any noise or inconvenience.

Existing slabs were cut via the first and second floor for the shaft. New walls were constructed for the shaft and the second-floor offices and theater room were renovated.
