Requiring a new Kitchen exhaust Riser shaft, the scope of work included precises coordination with the owner, architect, and all trades to not only mitigate safety for pedestrians below, but to follow the sweeping facade of the building.
Over the course of several months, with two separate working scaffold systems, the project team was able to make the shafts operable for existing food service tenants. Once the exhaust ducts were tied-in to the base building systems, the final stages of the project began with a joint operation between the scaffold being dismantled and the exterior panels being installed. Through close coordination and scheduling, the project team was able to close the exterior shaft and remove the scaffold simultaneously over the course of many weeks to reveal a structure that blends into the building façade.
Through several critical project meetings with various engineers from the scaffold, steel and mechanical vendors, the means and method were determined for all trades to have safe access to each working platform for their installation.
