Holt Construction served as construction manager for the completion of the Hackettstown Medical Center’s emergency generator.
Originally a parking lot island, a 12” thick slab was created with turndown footings. The site required excavation for underground electrical conduit installation to two new manhole structures which directed to the facilities basement to feed the electrical panels. The electrical was tied into the existing system and installation of a new automatic transfer switch was included. Any shutdowns were coordinated with the hospital engineering team in addition to any effected departments. Once completed, the site now houses two side by side Cummins Generators.
A challenge on this project was an existing active oxygen supply pipe that ran directly below the new slab/foundation. This feeds oxygen to the entire hospital. Holt worked around these areas to not disturb those vital pipes.
