The client contracted Holt Construction for its two-phased, 42,000 sq. ft. lounge and office reconstruction project at William P. Hobby Airport.
The original facility was severely damaged during a hurricane and required major renovation and reconstruction of the, office building, lounge, and hangar areas. Collaborating with the client, the project was completed in two phases with the first phase renovating the current office building. The second phase consisted of the main entrance, lounge area and pilot lounges. The final phase will consist of the hangar reconstruction and is currently on hold by the client.
Due to the major site work, the area was vacant until the two phases were completed. Acoustic drywall was installed within the lobby, customer service area, passenger lounge, restrooms, and various service support rooms throughout. The lounge was fitted with quartz counters recessed LED lighting and acoustic ceiling tiles to mitigate the noise from the jets. An additional restroom was constructed and was fitted with a mixture of porcelain and ceramic tiles in addition to recessed LED lighting and high-end vanities.
