Health Science Expansion Project

Holt Construction was brought on as general contractor to complete a hospital’s MRI Suite expansion.

The project involves adding a new MRI unit and supporting spaces within an active hospital environment, requiring careful coordination to minimize disruption to ongoing medical operations. The expansion repurposed an existing corridor and several nursing support rooms to create additional patient and staff areas, including new waiting and dressing rooms, an extended equipment room, MRI transfer rooms, and connecting hallways. Given the proximity to the hospital’s existing CT scan and MRI rooms, the team strategically scheduled noisy or disruptive work during early morning hours or off-peak times to maintain patient comfort and safety. Some work also extended to the operating room floor, requiring strict infection control measures and off-hour construction to ensure seamless hospital operations. The project is being completed in multiple phases, with Phase 1 finished in early 2025 and Phase 2 currently underway. The final phase is scheduled for completion in December 2025.
