Selected as General Contractor by Lufthansa Airlines, Holt Construction Corp. was tasked with completing a new premier lounge for the revered airline. The project site was in Terminal B at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).
One of the world’s largest airlines, Lufthansa Airlines required an upgrade to their existing lounge which encompasses over 6,000 square feet. The newly renovated lounge features Senator and Business Class Lounges, separated by custom sliding doors. Both lounges have seating installations for over 65 guests, including a full-service bar, heated countertops, reception area, ticketng/boarding information desk and workstations. The front façade was constructed with a specialty metal-clad entryway.
The sliding doors are also utilized to maintain fire egresses, including integrated fire alarm systems connected to the airport’s Life Safety System. The entire floor space above the ceilings received a new fire sprinkler system per the airports’ code requirements. To overcome high volume occupancy and extreme weather conditions, the mechanical systems for the lounge were integrated with the base building which was augmented with the local units.
Other noteworthy details include a full-service pantry which included stainless steel preparation tables, warming ovens, refrigeration, dishwasher, chilling and refrigeration counter inserts and beverage dispensers.
