The airline client selected Holt Construction as general contractor for their new premier lounge located at Newark Liberty International Airport’s Terminal B.
The newly renovated lounge features Senator and Business Class Lounges, separated by custom sliding doors. Both lounges have seating installations for over 65 guests, including a full-service bar, heated countertops, reception area, ticketing/boarding information desk and work stations. The front façade was constructed with a specialty metal-clad entryway. The sliding doors are also utilized to maintain fire egresses, including integrated fire alarm systems connected to the airport’s Life Safety System. The entire floor space above the ceilings received a new fire sprinkler system per the airports’ code requirements. In order to overcome high volume occupancy and extreme weather conditions, the mechanical systems for the lounge were integrated with the base building which was augmented with the local units. Other noteworthy details include a full-service pantry which included stainless steel preparation tables, warming ovens, refrigeration, dishwasher, chilling and refrigeration counter inserts and beverage dispensers.
