This four-story, LEED Gold-certified science building houses the college’s STEM-related programs in architecture, biology, engineering, and natural sciences. The building consists of a vegetated roof, underground storm water cistern, bio-retention areas, energy efficiency plumbing, HVAC, and solar PV panels. The construction scope of work included buildouts of engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, anatomy/physiology, and general science labs as well as classrooms, lecture spaces, computer labs, administrative offices, and a café.
Holt also constructed a three-story, 120,000 square foot pre-cast parking garage which added 300 parking spaces to accommodate the Rowley Center students, visitors, and faculty. Due to the soil’s instability, our team provided pile driving to properly support the foundation. Additional work included multiple elevator systems, stairways, an emergency call system, and security cameras. Holt employed a lean construction approach whereby 40% of construction materials used were recycled or produced locally, with 98% of waste recycled or salvaged.
