Holt Construction was contracted to complete the full supermarket located within the American Dream Mall, as well as a multi-venue food court with full kitchens and customer seating featuring cuisine from various vendors.
Completing the project in two phases, the supermarket opened first with the restaurants opening two months after. Featuring a full freezer section, dry foods, seafood and restaurant area, this is the American Dream Mall’s first grocery store within the facility. Due to supply chain shortages, the original freezers were replaced with available refrigerating units. However, these freezers were larger than originally planned so Holt permanently modified already constructed entrances so the freezer could be delivered and installed. This caused logistical challenges as the mall would not allow this size freezer to be loaded on elevators or through the loading dock. Holt worked with the mall staff and owner to mitigate any issues to mall operations and were able to install the new units without issue.
Additionally, back-of-house amenities including, large freezer rooms, staff areas, loading docks and storage were constructed to house product. The restaurant section required penetration to an active parking deck for wiring, plumbing and HVAC requirements. Holt installed and tied into exterior coolers and HVAC unites for the grocery store.
