New construction of a wide-body hangar to service United’s newest fleet of Boeing airliners.
Selected by United Airlines, Holt was awarded the opportunity to complete an impressive 81,000 square foot wide-body hangar with a purpose to service the airline’s newest fleet of Boeing airliners, located at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).
This hangar would also expand United’s maintenance capability for wide bodies by 33%. As a result of Holt’s expansive history working at the airport and a successful working relationship with United, Holt was selected to provide comprehensive logistics planning and overall construction services for the Hangar.
The scope of the project included the facility build-out featuring state-of-the-art pop-up pits, each containing a 400 Hertz power system, along with preconditioned air and air starts. The system also provides clean power to the aircraft while being serviced. The site also provided new low-level high-expansion foam systems among other essential utilities. Sustainable design and materials were utilized including LED lighting and HVAC energy efficient systems, translucent wall panels for increased natural light, along with low flush and low flow water fixtures.
The facility is an asset to United’s operations, allowing for improved maintenance and reliability of the aircraft while also maintaining the highest levels of safety and providing a superior workplace for their employees.
