Wide-Body Hangar

Newark, NJ

Holt Construction was hired by the client to build the 81,000 sq. ft. wide-body hangar to service their newest fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

The scope of the project included the facility build-out featuring state-of-the-art pop up pits, each containing a 400 Hertz power system, along with preconditioned air and air starts. The system also provided clean power to the aircraft while being serviced and while digital controls are tested. The site also provided new low-level high-expansion foam systems among other essential utilities. Sustainable design and materials were utilized including LED lighting and HVAC energy efficient systems, translucent wall panels for increased natural light, along with low flush and low flow water fixtures. The facility is an asset to the client’s operations, allowing for improved maintenance and reliability of the aircraft while also maintaining the highest levels of safety and providing a superior workplace for their employees.
