Holt Construction served as the construction manager for the college, located on the within Newburgh, NY, which became the first building in Orange County to be awarded LEED Gold Certification by the United States Green Building Council.
The parking garage located under the college is open and accessible for students, staff and visitors. The subterranean reinforced cast-in-place concrete parking garage roof was designed and constructed as a “Green” roof with a courtyard plaza, gardens and walkways which utilizes a waterproofing system. Highly efficient HVAC systems, LED lighting, a roof-mounted solar PV array, along with a 15,000-gallon cistern that is used to capture the roof rainwater and irrigate the vegetative rooftop of the underground parking garage were all features included in the project. The 97,000 sq. ft. three-story Science & Technology building houses an array of classrooms and science laboratories, as well as a two-story library, a one-stop center for all student services, a cybercafe where students can mingle, and office space for faculty members and administrators. Highly efficient HVAC systems, LED lighting, a roof mounted solar PV array, along with a 15,000 gallon cistern that is used to capture the roof rainwater and irrigate the vegetative rooftop of the underground parking garage were all features of the project scope.
