Holt Construction was general contractor for this project consisting of the construction of multipurpose rooms/gymnasiums for a school district. Group I included six elementary schools gymnasiums and the Community Learning Center.
The program required ground-up/core and shell work for most of the gymnasium and multipurpose rooms. Due to the schools still being active, Holt mitigated the safety of students through site fencing and barricades. The additions were two floors, containing the gymnasium, offices and activity rooms on the ground level, and an intermediate distribution frame closet (IDF) and mezzanine on the second floors. The building houses a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system, including access controls, fire alarm system, security system and an electrical blind system. The gymnasium, basketball hoops are retractable, in addition to retractable bleachers to open the space up for various activities.
As this was a large program, Holt coordinated with the various school districts and trades during construction. Holt rotated personnel accordingly to mitigate any schedule restraints or delays during the entire process.
