Holt Construction performed construction management services for this 4-story, LEED Gold certified science building which houses the college’s STEM-related programs in architecture, biology, engineering, and natural sciences.
The new space contains green components including a vegetated roof, underground storm water cistern, bio-retention areas, energy efficiency plumbing, HVAC and solar PV panels.
Holt employed lean construction whereby 40% of the construction materials used were recycled or produced locally and 98% of the waste generated was recycled or salvaged. The newly complete building includes build-outs of engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, anatomy/physiology and general science labs as well as classrooms, lecture spaces, computer labs, administrative offices, and a café. Holt also constructed a three-story, 120,000 square foot pre-cast parking garage which added 300 parking spaces to accommodate the center students, visitors and faculty. Due to the soil’s instability, our team provided pile driving to properly support the foundation. Additional work included multiple elevator systems, stairways, an emergency call system, and security cameras.
